And here our voyage in Vietnam started. The first thing we really liked was the fact that the food there is so pleasantly diverse. There is not only asian food to enjoy but also a lot of ffrench stuff, because Vietnam used to be a french colony.
After years in Guangzhou, it was a real indulgence to get some European food again :-) We were not really fond of the cantonese kitchen (I know, I know it is extremely famous) and found it quite disappointing.
We rather prefer the food which is eaten in the north of China which is more exciting, tastier and has more "spirit".
In Xi'An we enjoyed real nice food in the little street behind the gate where the silk road starts (directly behind the Bell and Drum Towers). The picture of the skewers on the pics are the ones we learned to love together with the spicy and tasteful bread they served with it. Hhhhhhmmm so delicious :-)
But here on this page we are in Hanoi (always drifting away when telling travel stories *smile*) and so I hope you enjoy this gallery with impressions of this bustling city.
